What is the voluntary work means to you? To be in a foreign country and work to help, give , listen, think …not for a few days or a weeks , to go to different culture you know a bit about it, and you have to stay and give their for eight months .
To volunteer means to do the challenging work to be exposed to difficulties situation, but it also mean an out standing opportunity to develop your personality and to experience the life and to enrich moments, I didn’t understand these things as a Gocy intern to sri lanka even when the time start to move ahead, but you will recognize the wisdom from this program after return back home to share your experience hen you will notice
the advance and the succes
If you argue your self in the first few days about what are you doing abroad , you will think that you are crazy wasting your time , no thing to do , then when you start to adapt with your surrounded , you will feel more comfortable reach to the achieve and it will be fast with the period, to believe in the message that you hold in is very important , although to give from your soul is necessary and to feel the moments with the other is a great thing , and know as well as important to solve your problems in your hand, and don’t depend on the
others .
Volunteering is a practice of the people working behalf of the other, with out being motivated by a financial or material again, the person who freely enlist for service, give and not receive , his credit in the life is seeing the smile on the faces of the other ,& he can received just the happiness and the appreciation from the people .
The time to take advantage of a unique and enriching experience is now! Galle YMCA “south of sri lanka“ is my place to be in for four months this place that seems strange some times and full of power and energy the other time, This is my chance to become involved in a variety of activities to help children flourish. Help them with their homework, play games, sing songs, indulge in arts & drama and social education.
I also feel that volunteer work could enhance the participant’s knowledge, social network and experience. All these actually add value to the participant in strengthening his self-image and life skill. We can all benefit from volunteer work, which does not have space and time boundary.
For future strategy, it was concluded that effort should be placed in hammering home the strong message that volunteer work is our civil responsibility.
